Devine Campaign Continues Building Momentum in Mayoral Run

At-Large Councilwoman continues to build a strong campaign

COLUMBIA, SC: Momentum continues in Tameika Isaac Devine’s run to become Columbia’s next Mayor. In the first quarter, Devine raised $115,105.75, a figure representing more than 650 people who donated.  Second-quarter fundraising numbers will be released on July 10th and there is an expectation of strong numbers again.

Devine launched her grassroots campaign in February 2021 and has amassed contributions ranging from $5 to the max of $1000.

  • Columbia’s Future: Councilwoman Tameika Isaac Devine has released policy on COVID relief, public safety, gun violence, and affordable housing. 
  • Broad Base of Support: Devine has received grassroots support ranges from community leaders, small business owners, and elected officials. The campaign has endorsements of 200+. She also continues her listening tour, “Devine Listens Sessions,” across the city. 
  • Endorsements: Run Sister Run, Vote Mama, Democracy For America, Democratic Municipal Officials’ Blue Star Rising, and Emily’s List Political Action Committees announced their endorsements, along with dozens of local community leaders to include former City Councilman Luther Battiste, State Senator Mia McLeod, Community activist Harriett Hancock and former State Democratic Chairwoman and DNC member Carol Fowler. As we go into the 3rd quarter, the campaign will launch a series of new initiatives and in-person events like “Tameika on Tour,” where Tameika will visit local businesses and talk to business owners about recovering from Covid and how the city can better support their growth and development.
