At-Large Councilwoman receives endorsement from four Political Action Committees
Tameika Isaac Devine has demonstrated a strong start to her mayoral campaign and it’s clear that others have begun to take note. Since Devine announced her run in February, she has garnered endorsements from three national Political Action Committees (PACs)–Run Sister Run, Vote Mama, and Democracy for America.

Each of these organizations carries a powerful message that, undoubtedly, reflects the identity and message of Councilwoman Devine. Run Sister Run’s mission to aid in electing more women into political offices directly correlates to the historical nature of this run for Devine. To win this election will position her as the first African American woman mayor of Columbia. Additionally, Democracy for America’s endorsement encourages the election of people of color to seats of power by fighting for inclusive populism. Lastly, but equally as impactful, Vote Mama highlights the importance of motherhood and the ability of moms to hold political power. As an African-American mother, seeking to build a stronger community for current and next generations, the support of these PACs will have a powerful effect on the future of Devine’s campaign.
“I am honored that these amazing grassroots organizations have taken notice of our campaign and have thrown their support behind assisting us in our quest to become the next Mayor of Columbia,” Councilwoman Devine said.
